Devyani Khobragade to serve Kerala

Kochi: IFS officer Devyani Khobragade has been appointed as the director (state governments) in the Ministry of External Affairs.

Khobragade will be in charge of the overseas affairs related to Kerala, especially issues related to Malayali workers in the Gulf countries.

“I’ve already interacted with the state government officials including chief minister Oommen Chandy and executives of non-resident Keralites' affairs (Norka) department," Devyani told reporters.

A 1999-batch IFS officer, Khobragade, India's Deputy Consul General in New York, was arrested on charges of making false declarations in a visa application for her maid Sangeeta Richard.
