Rishiraj Singh's visit to home of murder attempt accused condemnable: CPI-M

Thrissur: CPI-M on Monday said Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Rishiraj Singh should not have visited home of murder attempt accused in Guruvayur.

Thrissur district secretary of the CPI-M A C Moideen said that the ADGP’s visit to the BJP local leader’s home even after being informed about the case was condemnable.

“The Special Branch of the police had informed him about the character of the case the BJP leader is involved in. Still, he went ahead with the visit. That was not right,” Moideen said.

He added the ADGP is suspected to be trying for a high post in the Centre by his ‘BJP appeasement’.

Singh had courted controversy by visiting BJP local leader Bijeesh, a murder attempt accused, at his home on Sunday.

The ADGP, who was in the district to attend a programme in connection with Kargil Victory Day, was invited to the house of Bijeesh after the programme, of which he was one of the organisers.

Bijeesh is an accused in the murder attempt case of two CPI-M local leaders in Kandanassery in the district.
