Manoj murder case: Jayarajan’s bail plea rejected

Kannur: The Principal Sessions Court at Thalassery here on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail application of CPI-M district secretary P Jayarajan in the Manoj murder case.

Jayarajan had moved the anticipatory bail application in the case relating to the murder of RSS functionary K. Manoj in September last.

Jayarajan, who has not yet been named an accused in the case, submitted the plea saying that the CBI team probing the case of the murder of RSS functionary Elamthottathil Manoj might arrest and torture him.

He had also cited his health condition in the plea.

Manoj, accused of making an unsuccessful attempt to kill Jayarajan in 1999, was attacked by a seven-member gang in Kathirur near Kannur last year.

The assailants hurled a bomb at the RSS activist’s vehicle and hacked him to death.
