Thiruvananthapuram: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said it is the duty of the DGP to examine if there was any violation of protocol by ADGP Rishi Raj Singh as reported during a Kerala Police Academy function at Thrissur on Saturday.
“I personally do not have any complaint over the matter. But the DGP can examine if there was any protocol violation from the part of ADGP Rishi Raj Singh,” Chennithala said. “Singh was posted as ADGP, Armed Police Battalion, because he was willing to return to the Police Department,” He added.
Stating that Singh was an officer known for his efficiency and honesty, the Home Minister also said that the controversy over a photograph from the function, which showed Singh sitting as Chennithala reached the venue, was baseless.
Singh has, however, dismissed allegation of misconduct from hispart. In a Facebook post, he said, “WhatsApp and Facebook are carrying news about me not standing while the honourable Home Minister was going to take salute at the Police Academy, Thrissur this (Saturday) morning. This news is baseless. As per protocol, those sitting in the gallery for watching the parade are supposed to stand only when the national anthem is played. Otherwise all are supposed to sit till the VVIP leaves.”
