Security guard hit with Hummer critical

Thrissur: A security guard, who was hit with an Hummer car by a businessman on Thursday, in a fit of rage, is in critical condition in a hospital here.

Muhammad Nizam, managing director of Tirunelveli-based King Beedi Co., allegedly rammed his luxury vehicle on Chandrabose, a security guard of a posh apartment complex where the accused lives with his family, for delay in opening the gate, injuring him seriously.

Nizam allegedly roughed up the guard, dragged him to the wall of the parking lot and ran his Hummer vehicle on him.

As the incident sent shock-waves, Chief Minister Oomen Chandy said that the government would cover all medical costs of Chandrabose. He assured that "the police will not be lenient and strictest punishment shall be ensured in accordance to law."

The accused has been booked under provisions of Kerala anti-social prevention act.

The victim is on life support at a local hospital.

Police had earlier booked Nizam for posting on the social media the video footage of his 9-year-old son driving Ferrari car.

Apart from being a prominent tobacco supplier, he has hotel and jewellery businesses in the Middle East.
