Balakrishna Pillai quits as Corporation Chairman

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai has quit the post of chairman of the Kerala Backward Communities Welfare Corporation.

He handed over his resignation to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy around 9 pm on Sunday through a special messenger.

Pillai also returned his official car to the Tourism Department.

The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that Pillai had resigned from the post.

Following his telephone conversations with Kerala Bar Hotels Association leader Biju Ramesh triggered a fresh row in the UDF, he had said he would soon quit the chairman post.

In the conversations revealed by Biju Ramesh, Pillai had offered his support to the association to run the case against Finance Minister K M Mani.
