Let us know what help you need, Chandy asks Jayalalithaa

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has written to his Tamil Nadu counterpart J.Jayalalithaa, offering whatever help is required in view of the devastating floods in Chennai and other districts.

"We are deeply pained by the untold sufferings caused due to the floods that have created havoc in Tamil Nadu. Please let us know what help is required from our side and we are willing to send medical teams and medicines. We are waiting to hear from you," said Chandy in his letter, a copy of which was circulated to the media here on Sunday night.

It said Kerala will dispatch 10,000 kilograms of bleaching powder and an equal number of gloves on Monday.

Kerala has already sent state Health Secretary E.Elangovan to Chennai and the Norka office (the state government agency that looks after the welfare of the Kerala diaspora) in Chennai has opened a help line and by now, got 3,000 calls have been addressed.

The state owned Road Transport Corporation is operating daily bus services by bringing back all Keralites free of cost and by now all the buses travelling towards Chennai are laden with chappatis for being distributed to the needy in Chennai.
