Daya Bai faces misconduct in KSRTC bus

Kochi: Noted social activist Daya Bai Sunday alleged that employees of state-owned KSRTC bus used vulgar language against her and forced her to get down in an unknown area last night while travelling to Aluva from Thrissur.

After a TV news channel telecast the experience faced by Daya Bai, who works among tribals in Central India, Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan expressed regret and said proper action would be taken against the culprits.

She told reporters Sunday that the conductor and driver used vulgar words and misbehaved with her when she enquired about the bus stop near Aluva where she was supposed to get down.

"I was on the verge of crying. I will file a complaint (with police). People like me should not be humiliated. We all enjoy equal rights", she said.

Dayabai had taken the bus to Aluva after addressing a student police camp in Thrissur yesterday.

Publicly expressing regret about the incident, Radhakrishnan said the vigilance wing of the KSRTC had been asked to conduct an inquiry.

"Proper action will be taken against the errant officials", he told a TV news channel.
