Thiruvananthapuram: Nedumangad MLA Ravi Palod, who is the chairman of the Legislative Committee for Official Language, was on Wednesday elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
He bagged 74 votes while LDF nominee E Chandrasekharan got 65 votes in the poll held in the Assembly.
The Congress had earlier reached in a consensus on giving the post to the A-group leader. The post went to him after K Muraleedharan refused the offer.
