Cases registered against law college students over clashes

Kozhikode: Two groups of students of the government law college here have been booked in connection with clashes between them over student union elections, police said Saturday. 

The clashes broke out between the groups belonging to Students Federation of India (SFI) and the United Democratic Students Front (UDSF) after the declaration of the election results on December 17 night, Sevayur police said. 

Students belonging to SFI allegedly attacked the other group and cases were registered against them under various IPC sections on complaints from three students injured in the attack, they said. 

They injured students had been admitted to the Government General Hospital here, police said. 

Cases under similar sections had been filed against a group of students belonging to UDSF following counter claims by SFI members. 

No arrest has been made so far in connection with the clashes and investigation is on, police said. 

Meanwhile, the law college has been closed by its administration for Christmas vacation from Friday and it will reopen on December 29.
