Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti visits SNDP leader Natesan

Alappuzha: Amid BJP's bid to cement ties with Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP), an organisation of Kerala' numerically strong Ezhava community, Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti Sunday met its leader Vellapalli Natesan at his residence here.

Jyoti, Union Minister of state for Food Processing, was in the city to attend the 'Jayanthi' celebrations of renowned social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, who gave the message of 'One caste, one religion and One God to mankind. Guru is also the founder of the SNDP.

The meeting assumes significance as it came nearly a month after Natesan met BJP President Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed the political situation and the problems faced by the Hindu community in the state.

The meeting is widely seen as BJP's attempt to expand its base in the state. Though, BJP's vote share is on the increase in the state recently, the party in the state had so far failed to win a seat in the assembly or Parliament.

However, talking to reporters Jyoti, who spend about 30 minutes with the SNDP leader, said there was no political agenda in meeting.

"We did not discuss any politics... I am happy to attend a function organised in the name of Sree Narayana Guru and I came only to participate in the event," She said.

Answering a question, she said the Centre was ready to sanction more Food Processing Parks for state. "Already three parks have been allotted," she said.
