Kottayam: P.A Abdul Gafoor of Madhyamam daily and C. Narayanan of Mathrubhumi daily have been elected as the new state president and general secretary of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) respectively.
Gafoor won the election defeating Boby Abraham of Manorama by a margin of 397 votes while C. Narayanan secured 1267 against N.Padmanabhan of Madhyamam (715 votes).
A 30-member state executive committee has also been elected.
The newly elected office-bearers will take charge on the occasion of the KUWJ state conference to be held in Kasargod in September.
