Woman, three children found dead in Balussery

Kozhikode: Four members of a family were found dead in the bedroom of their home at Unnikulam near Balussery in the district on Saturday night.

The bodies of 30 years old Naseela, wife of Thudiyangal Shihab, and their three children – Hanna Fathima (12), Thashva (3) and Nashva (3) – were found with fire burns on Saturday night.

The police suspect the family committed suicide.

The woman had made a phone call to her husband’s ancestral home at Alathur asking any of the family members to come over as one of her kids was not well. They then informed some relatives residing near Naseela’s home who went to her home. As they found smokes coming out of the bedroom, they informed the neighbors.

Although the locals tried to rescue the woman and the kids trying to douse the fire by breaking into the bedroom, they could not be saved.

Fire and rescue teams and Balussery police also joined the rescue operation.

The deadbodies were later shifted to Kozhikode Medical College for postmortem.

Naseela’s husband Shihab, who works in Kuwait, had come back home two weeks before. However, the relatives said that he was in Delhi when the incident occurred.

The neighbors of Naseela said that the couple had been in good terms.
