Bar licence not a fundamental right: SC

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Thursday has observed that the bar licences cannot be interpreted as a fundamental right.

The court's observation came during the hearing of plea submitted by bar owners challenging the liquor policy of the Kerala government.

The apex court also observed that limiting access to liquor would gradually bring down the volume of consumption.

It also asked whether the dispute between the Chief Minister and KPCC president resulted in framing such a policy.
