Aranmula project gets green nod

Thiruvananthapuram: An expert panel of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has given its permission for the KGS group to go ahead with its Environment Impact Assessment [EIA] study in the proposed Aranmula project in Pathanamthitta.

The panel, while considering a plea submitted by the KGS Group, has dismissed the argument that the site identified for the proposed airport is unfavourable for the project.

The KGS Group, in its plea submitted last week seeking clearance for the project, had pointed out that there was no cultivable paddy field in the vicinity of the site for the proposed airport at Aranmula.

The Southern Bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had last year restrained KGS International Airport Ltd. from setting up the proposed greenfield airport project.
