New Delhi: Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi Wednesday said that the Centre would examine if children were being taken to Kerala orphanages without following necessary procedures.
“The legal procedures to set up orphanages will be modified to prevent any exploitation. A special team from the Child Development Ministry will also assess the condition of all the orphanages,” Maneka said while talking to reporters here.
She was responding to a question on the issue of children being taken to the orphanages in Kerala without following adequate norms.
The BJP leader also said that the government would take strict action against illegally-functioning orphanages in the State.
