Split of Communist parties was a tragedy, reiterates Pannyan

Manalur(Thrissur): CPI State secretary Pannyan Raveendran on Monday said that the split of the Communist parties was "a tragedy" for the country.

“The split of the Communist parties was a tragedy for the nation. That is what an analysis of the 50 years after the split shows,” Pannyan said while talking to the media before inaugurating an agriculture project of the party’s Thrissure district.

“The party was in the third place in the Parliament before the split. But that has been reduced to a position with mere 11 seats now.”

The Marxist veteran said that he felt that CPI-M’s senior leader Sitaram Yechury was right in his observations on the decline of the party in the country.

Pannyan also said that the CPI would continue its support for the re-unification of the Communist parties.

He added some small parties functioning in the label of Communism were the ones creating hurdles for the re-unification of the Communist parties.
