VS seeks suspension of T O Sooraj IAS

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan on Thursday demanded that senior bureaucrat T O Sooraj, the state PWD secretary, be suspended from the post in view of the corruption allegations against him.

Talking to the media here, Achuthanandan alleged that a prominent figure in the ruling Front was trying to protect the bureaucrat.

The government should seize Sooraj’s unaccounted properties. He is an accused in the Marad massacre case and Kalamassery land grab case. The unaccounted cash and records of property dealings recovered by the Vigilance justify the accusations against him,” he said.

The vigilance and anti-corruption department conducted raids at the home and office of Sooraj and recovered cash and records of property dealings on Wednesday.

He was under the lens of the vigilance department for some time.

Vigilance officials will, in the coming days, examine in detail Sooraj's known sources of income and also look into the list of assets that he has filed with the state government. They will then submit their report to the Thrissur vigilance court.
