Thiruvananthapuram: Siby Mathews IPS, who investigated the infamous ISRO spy case of 1994, on Tuesday said that he was being made a scapegoat in the case.
Talking to Asianet News, Mathews asked the government to file an appeal against a directive of the High Court which had last month nullified the UDF government decision not to take action against three police officials, including Mathews, for allegedly cooking up the spy case.
He said the government was not going for an appeal because of some political reasons.
“No matter what the government decides, I will myself move the High Court against the order. I am planning to file an appeal challenging it on November 30.” Mathews said.
The court directive came in the wake of former ISRO scientist Namby Narayanan, who had been framed up in the case, moving the high court against the decision of Oommen Chandy government in 2012.
The state had decided not to take either disciplinary or criminal action against the then DIG (Crime) Siby Mathews, who is now the State Chief Information Commissioner, the then Circle Inspector (Special Branch) S. Vijayan and the then Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) K.K. Joshuwa.
