Security further tightened at Sabarimala hill shrine

Sabarimala: Security was on Saturday strengthened at the Hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa against the backdrop of the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary.

Devotees are being allowed to offer worship only after stringent security check up, police said.

State Police, 30 personnel of the 'Thunderbolt' squad, 20 special commando personnel, Rapid Action force, National Disaster Management team, police personnel drawn from other states and bomb squad are keeping strict vigil, ADGP and Chief Police coordinator at Sabarimala K Padmakumar said.

Devotees from various parts of the country and abroad throng the temple during the two-month long pilgrimage season which began last month.
