Party move to expel members wrong: Achuthanandan

Alappuzha: Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan Saturday criticised the party leadership’s move to expel the members accused in the Krishna Pillai Memorial attack case.

“The decision to expel the accused from the primary membership was wrong. The leadership should have instead dismissed with utter disregard the report of the Crime Branch team,” Achuthanandan said.

He also reiterated his stand that there was a conspiracy by the government in arresting the two persons in connection with the case.

Latheesh B. Chandran, key accused in the P. Krishna Pillai memorial attack case, had surrendered at the office of Crime Branch SP R.K. Jayaraj on Monday.

Unidentified persons had on October 2013 set ablaze the memorial and vandalised the bust of Pillai, founder-secretary of the Communist Party in Kerala when it was formed in 1937.
