Attacks in Palakkad, Wayanad anti-social activities: Chennithala

Thrissur: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala Tuesday said his statement on the attacks on a KFC outlet in Palakkad and Forest department offices in Wayanad was misquoted, saying that he didn’t say anti-social elements were behind in it.

“I didn’t say anti-social elements were behind in it. What I said the attacks were anti-social activities. My statement on it was misquoted by the media,” the Home Minister told reporters here.

“The attackers were not Maoists. They were sympathisers of the Maoist outfits. They don’t have any public support. Their intention is to grab the media attention,” he said.

“Raids will be carried out at places where the Moaist links are suspected. The media offices also come under the ambit of it,” Chennithala said while responding to the reporter’s queries on the raid at the office of Keraleeyam magazine in Thrissur.

“The public should not be panic over these incidents,” he said.
