Malayali technician kills self in east Delhi

Thiruvananthapuram: A 27-year-old man from Kerala, who worked as technician at a private school, allegedly committed suicide at his residence in east Delhi's Seemapuri area.

Rajesh Shankar had been staying with his parents in a rented accommodation in Dilshad Colony. The family hailed from Adoor in Kerala.

Shankar got married a month ago and his wife, a nurse, had later left for Iraq.

He hanged himself on Saturday night.

"Shankar had dinner with his parents on Saturday night and went to his room. However, when his father called him for some work a little while later, he got no response from inside the room.

"As the situation persisted for long, he broke the door open only to find Shankar hanging from the ceiling fan of his room," said a police official.

The family informed the police, which brought down the body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.

"The cause behind his extreme step is not clear as neither we have recovered any suicide note nor have the family revealed any problem he might be facing," he said.

"Even his friends have also not been able to shed light whether he was depressed over something. We are now waiting for his wife to return to India as she might provide some clue into the case," he said.

His family yesterday took his body to Kerala by flight for the last rites.
