K.M Mani faces fresh bribery charges

Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF Opposition Tuesday raised fresh allegations of bribery against Kerala Finance Minister K.M. Mani, who is already facing charges of corruption levelled by bar owners.

CPI(M) MLA V. Sivankutty said in the Assembly that the minister received bribe of Rs 27.43 crore from various people.

“K.M. Mani accepted Rs 2 crore from quarry owners. In return, the minister offered them discount in tax. Mani has also taken money from petrol pump owners promising them stay order to revenue recovery process,” Sivankutty alleged.

The MLA also accused IAS officer Tom Jose of amassing wealth. “The IAS officer has bought numerous properties in and outside Kerala,” he said.
