Nanded/ Maharashtra: A woman has taken wedding vows at the funeral of her lover that she will live in his household as daughter-in-law, NDTV reported.
Aanchal’s lover, Saksham Tate, was beaten up, shot in head before he was crushed with a stone to death in Maharashtra's Nanded on Thursday.
A distraught Aanchal has taken the vow after putting vermillion on her forehead, after the fashion of wedding rite.
Anchal met the 20-year-old through her brothers and fell in love, before frequently visiting his home.
Three years into relationship, they faced pressure from her family due to difference in their castes. However, they continued to see each other.
Aanchal's brothers and father beat Tate up, shot him in the head and crushed him to death with a stone after learning the couple was going to marry.
Showing up at his funeral, Aanchal put turmeric on his body and vermillion on her forehead, marrying the mortal remains of her lover.
Afterwards she decided to live the rest of her life as his wife in his house.
Demanding death penalty to his murders, she said: ‘Our love won, even in Saksham's death, and my father and brothers lost.’
She said though Tate is dead, their love is still alive.
A case has been filed against six accused under various sections and arrested them.
