Will not allow setting up of Lulu mall in Tamil Nadu: BJP

Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai has said that Lulu Mall will not be allowed in Tamil Nadu. The BJP will not allow a single brick to be laid for the construction of the new Lulu Mall, he said. Opposition AIADMK is also opposing the move.

Annamalai said that such an establishment would adversely affect small scale retailers. He asked why organizations that had opposed Walmart in the past were keeping silent about Lulu.

AIADMK slammed the Tamil Nadu government, saying such a mall would destroy small scale traders. Party joint coordinator E Palaniswamy urged small scale traders to unite against MNCs that destroy them, The News Minute reported.

Recently, Chief Minister M.K. During Stalin's visit to Abu Dhabi, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Lulu Group. The MoU included three major projects in the state at an investment of Rs 3500 crore. They are two malls with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore and an export-oriented food processing initiative at an investment of Rs 1000 crores.

But what is ironic is Lulu has three malls running in BJP ruled Gujarat, and Lulu has signed another MoU with its government for projects worth Rs 2000 crore. Lucknow, the capital of Yogi Adityanth's BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh, is also going to witness the inauguration of a Lulu mall.
