Will meet Sidhu Moose Wala's fate: Sanjay Raut gets death threat from Lawrence Bishnoi gang

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP and chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut, has received a death threat allegedly in the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

According to party officials, Raut received a WhatsApp message on his mobile late on Friday night on the alleged threat. The message warned that whenever Raut is spotted in New Delhi, he would be shot dead with an AK-47 rifle.

Not taking chances, Raut informed the Mumbai Police Commissioner and a probe is underway.

“I have intimated the police about the threat call, but do not think any action would be taken. I received the call last night. Whenever I inform the government and home minister about such threats, they mock me saying it's a stunt. The government is busy sponsoring riots, hooliganism and terror,” Raut told reporters.

“Sanjay Raut received death threats stating that he will meet Sidhu Moose Wala's fate. He got the threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message said that if you met in Delhi, will kill you with an AK-47. He wrote a letter to the police complaining about the matter”, said Mumbai police.

A person was detained in Pune in connection with the death threat and he will be interrogated regarding the threat message sent to actor Salman Khan as well, said the Mumbai police, reports Hindustan Times.

Earlier, he had written to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the threats to his life.

On Saturday, Sena (UBT) Leader of Opposition (Council) Ambadas Danve said that the present state government had removed Raut's security, and urged that the threats must be taken seriously.

Salman Khan had also received death threats recently from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claiming that the actor will ‘end up like Sidhu Moose Wala’.

The accused, Dhakad Ram, a resident of Luni in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, was arrested and handed over to the Mumbai Police.
