Lucknow: With Covid cases rising at an alarming rate in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to set up quarantine centres in all those districts of the state that are receiving migrant workers.
According to the government spokesman, the Chief Minister has directed concerned authorities to ensure that these quarantine centres have all proper arrangements for corona testing and quarantining of migrant workers, as well as their food and medical aid
As per CM's directives, the Health Department will conduct RT-PCR tests of the returning migrant workers, and provide medical aids to those tested positive.
Nodal officers and local committees belonging to different districts have been directed to coordinate with their respective district magistrates in this regard and ensure all facilities to the returnees.
Last year too, the UP government had taken care of the basic needs of the workers, especially street vendors and hawkers, during the pandemic induced lockdown. The government has provided them with ration kits, offered them financial assistance, and arranged public transport buses for them to return to their home town.
