Noida school director arrested for installing spy cam in washroom

Noida: The director of a school in Uttar Pradesh's Noida has been arrested after a teacher alerted the police that a spy camera was placed in teachers’ washroom.

The camera placed in the bulb socket allowed the man to watch individuals entering the washroom on his computer and mobile phone.

A teacher at the play school ‘Learn with Fun’ in Noida's Sector 70 noticed something unusual in the bulb holder of the washroom on December 10.

A faint light emanating from the holder aroused her suspicion which she discovered was coming from hidden spy camera.

She alerted the school's security guard, who confirmed the presence of the device.

When she reported the incident to the school director, Navnish Sahay, and the school's coordinator, Parul, they denied it.

Following inaction on the part of Sahay nor Parul, she approached police.

Noida Central Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shakti Mohan Awasthi registered a case.

The director, Navnish Sahay, was arrested just as the probe revealed the camera was capable of live-streaming without recording.

Sahay told police that he had purchased the camera online for Rs 22,000.

Concealed within a bulb holder, the device was nearly undetectable without close examination.

Teacher reportedly said that she had previously discovered a similar spy camera in the school’s toilet.

Back then, she handed over the camera to coordinator Parul who did not taken any action.

The teacher cited security guard Vinod as revealing that the camera was installed by the director himself.

However, police are now probing if the security guard had any role in it.

The school's operations have been suspended following investigation.
