Baghpat: A man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district after a CCTV video allegedly showed him beating a cow with sticks, triggering outrage on social media.
Police said the incident took place in Soup village under the Ramala police station limits. The footage, which circulated widely online, prompted immediate action from local authorities.
The accused has been identified as Yunus, son of Tahir and a resident of the same village. After the video surfaced, police detained him for questioning and later said he admitted to the act during interrogation. Officers also said he apologised and promised not to repeat such behaviour.
A separate video released by police shows the accused with folded hands, seeking forgiveness and asking for leniency. That clip too has drawn attention online.
Police said a case has been registered against him under relevant legal provisions. He was produced before court and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
