UP: Four siblings from one family crack Civil Services, become 3 IAS and 1 IPS officers

Lucknow: In an extraordinary achievement that has set a new benchmark for civil service aspirants, four siblings from a single family in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, have successfully cleared the prestigious UPSC examination. The children of Anil Mishra—Yogesh, Madhavi, Lokesh, and Kshama—have all entered the civil services, with three joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and one joining the Indian Police Service (IPS).

While clearing one of India's toughest examinations is considered a significant milestone for any family, the Mishra siblings have created history with their collective success. Their father, Anil Mishra, prioritized their education above all else, supporting them steadfastly despite facing financial difficulties.

The journey began with the eldest sibling, Yogesh Mishra, who cleared the examination in 2013. He secured a spot in the reserve list in his first attempt and was subsequently appointed as an IAS officer. His success served as a catalyst for the others. Inspired by her brother, Madhavi Mishra appeared for the exam in 2014, securing the 62nd rank in her first attempt to join the IAS.

The streak continued the following year when Lokesh Mishra cleared the examination in 2015, achieving an All India Rank of 44 to become the family's third IAS officer. The circle was completed by Kshama Mishra, who persevered through three attempts before realizing her dream of becoming an IPS officer in her fourth attempt.

Notably, all four siblings completed their schooling up to the higher secondary level (Plus Two) in the Hindi medium. Their success has demonstrated that language barriers and financial constraints can be overcome with determination and hard work, making the Mishra family’s story a source of inspiration for thousands of ordinary families across the nation.
