Several parts of India are still in the grip of conditions close to a heatwave. But the unpredictable weather has taken a pleasant turn for Bengaluru. The South Indian town is now cooler than many hill stations.
On Wednesday, the temperature in Bengaluru was recorded at 23°C which is cooler than Shimla and Mussoorie. The city is known for its weather but the current temperature is 11°C cooler than its average summer temperature. The India Meteorological Department is owing to this to the effects of Cyclone Asani.
However, Mussoorie (24°C) and Shimla (25°C) are not far behind. Still, social media users are hailing the metro city for giving hill stations a run for their money. The regional weather office says Bengaluru will see partly cloudy conditions with light showers till May 17. For the next two days, there is a possibility of rain or thunderstorm.
On the other hand, Delhi is still experiencing scorching high temperatures. The IMD issued a yellow alert on Friday and Saturday and warning of a heatwave in several regions in the city. On Sunday, an orange alert warning of a severe heatwave has been issued.
