Universities need to move away from conventional ideas: Delhi education minister

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said universities need to move away from conventional ideas and think out of the box to contribute to the progress of the country.


He is also Delhi's education minister.


The AAP leader added that India has to think ahead of time to match the pace of rapidly growing technology-efficient nations. And the way to such a development goes through universities.


He further elaborated that teachers and students need to change their habits and mindsets for India to make its way to international rankings. "If universities will think and innovate ahead of time, then the nation will definitely be ahead of time".


The minister stated that India needs to strengthen the school education system in order to strengthen the roots of the country. "if we want to touch the sky then our university education system needs to be strengthened".


Sisodia said that having a center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence is a matter of pride for universities today. "It reflects the high-end thinking of the young minds, who are running the university, and taking it ahead of the time".


He was speaking at the inauguration of the Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT). The school is meant to offer multi-dimensional avenues for the university and enhance advanced research in technology.
