New Delhi: Officials said on Friday that the Union Health Ministry has earned three Guinness World Records for its nationwide ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ (SNSPA) initiative — a milestone highlighting India’s strong focus on preventive and women-centred healthcare.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday, September 17, the campaign drew massive public participation across the country.
According to the ministry, the three records include the highest number of people registering on a healthcare platform in a single month — over 3.21 crore (3,21,49,711) participants; the largest number of online sign-ups for breast cancer screening within a week — more than 9.94 lakh (9,94,349); and the highest state-level participation in online vital signs screening during a week — over 1.25 lakh (1,25,406).
Carried out alongside Poshan Maah, the drive aimed to enhance the health and nutrition of women, adolescent girls, and children by promoting early detection, improving access to essential healthcare, and encouraging families to adopt healthier habits for a more robust India, TNIE reported.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said that the Guinness World Records recognition reflected India’s collective commitment to building a “Healthy Woman, Empowered Family, and Viksit Bharat” through the combined strength of government systems, digital health innovation, and active community participation.
Officials noted that the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan reached every district in the country, conducting around 19.7 lakh health camps and recording a total footfall of more than 11 crore across various healthcare platforms.
Between September 17 and October 2, the campaign facilitated over 1.78 crore hypertension screenings, 1.73 crore diabetes screenings, 69.5 lakh oral cancer screenings, 62.6 lakh antenatal check-ups, 1.43 crore vaccine doses, and 1.51 crore anaemia tests. It also enabled screenings of over 85.9 lakh women for tuberculosis and 10.2 lakh for sickle cell disease, while around 2.14 crore people attended counselling and wellness sessions.
The ministry added that more than 2.68 lakh Nikshay Mitras registered during the campaign, supported by active involvement from My Bharat volunteers. Over 20 ministries took part in the drive, alongside central institutions, medical colleges, and private organisations.
Members of Parliament, state legislators, and officials from various ministries also participated, making it a comprehensive ‘Whole-of-Government’ initiative.
Adopting a ‘Whole-of-Society’ approach, the campaign saw widespread community involvement — with contributions from over 5 lakh Panchayati Raj representatives, 1.14 crore school and college students, 94 lakh members of self-help groups (SHGs), and around 5 lakh participants from other community platforms — making it one of India’s largest community health engagement efforts.
