TMC tells Cong: You lost power, merge with Us, Cong calls TMC BJP agent

New Delhi: Taunting the Congress for its failure in taking on the BJP in the Assembly elections in five states, the Trinamool Congress said the grand old national party has shown it is incapable to beat the saffron party nationally.

TMC leader and West Bengal Transport and Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim said it is time for the Congress to merge with Mamata Banerjee led the TMC. He also stressed that only the TMC can fight the BJP and the principles of Nathuram Godse with the principles of Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose.

Another TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has also taken Hakim's heel to project Mamata Banerjee as the one who is capable to fight a force like the BJP.

The TMC has also accused the Congress of its negligence to accept a proposal for a framework to build a larger alliance with the Congress and other opposition parties to fight the BJP. It has also complained that the proposal did not get the least attention.

Meanwhile, Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury reacted sharply to the TMC's proposal, saying, "The TMC is the biggest agent of the BJP. If they are serious about fighting against the BJP, they should merge with the Congress."
