Chris Hemsworth is returning as Asgardian God Thor. He earlier appeared in four Avengers films and three solo films. The trailer did not reveal if Thor: Love and Thunder is dealing with aspects of the multiverse in line with the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new film will show what happens to Thor after he decides to move on from Asgard and Earth.

Director Taika Waititi has returned to her chair. Natalie Portman will return as Jane Foster after nine years. Tessa Thompson will play Valkyrie whom Thor left as in charge of Asgard after they relocated to Earth. Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Russell Crowe as Zeus are also returning for the plot.

The teaser indicates that the new instalment is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Thor left to find inner peace and quit the world of violence. But he is forced to come back and seek help from Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster to stop a threat. The trailer revealed that after Thor gave up his title as God of Thunder, Jane Foster has become the Mighty Thor. She is seen wielding Mjollnir successfully.

The franchise is also introducing a new villain Gorr - the God Butcher who wants to kill all gods. He is played by Christian Bale who claims that gods only care about themselves and must be removed from the universe. In the comics, Gorr grew up on a barren planet frequented by natural calamities. After his family dies, he loses faith in the gods and his people shun him for blasphemy. After discovering gods for sure exist, he seeks revenge by creating an army of shadow berserkers to kill gods.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
