'The Kashmir Files' director announces the next project 'The Delhi Files'

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri announced his next project on Twitter and hinted the title may be 'The Delhi Files'.

His latest film 'The Kashmir Files' is having a successful run in theatres despite the controversies surrounding it. The plot showed the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s. The film released worldwide on March 11 has already made over Rs 330 crore at the box office.

Several critics called out the film for the problematic politics and parties also questioned BJP-ruled states for exempting it from entertainment tax. The controversial film has been used by extremist Hindu groups to encourage people to take up arms against minorities. Many reviews termed it "deeply Islamophobic, dishonest, and a provocation."

After the trailer release itself, many warned that inflammatory scenes are bound to cause communal violence. Mr. Agnihotri responded by insisting that every frame and word in the movie is the truth.

On Thursday, the filmmaker thanked all those who supported the film. He wrote that the team worked hard with utmost honesty and sincerity for the last four years. "I may have spammed your timelines but it is very important to make people aware of the genocide and injustice done to Kashmiri Hindus."

Agnihotri continued that it is time for him to work on a new film and wrote "The Delhi Files" in a follow-up tweet. He did not share any details about the plot of the movie.
