Tejashwi Yadav slams PM Modi over law and order in Bihar following Anant Singh’s arrest

Patna: RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the NDA government in Bihar of presiding over a ‘maha jungle raj’ following the arrest of JD(U) candidate and gangster-politician Anant Singh in connection with the murder of Jan Suraaj supporter Dular Chand Yadav in Mokama.

Responding to BJP’s repeated criticism of the RJD’s past tenure, Yadav claimed that the current administration had failed to maintain law and order. “This was bound to happen after the events that unfolded. The Prime Minister is visiting Patna for a roadshow today. Crimes have been committed in many places. Doesn't he see this?” he told reporters, citing recent double murders in Ara and Rohtas and alleging that gunfire has become a daily occurrence in the state.

Yadav asserted that the Mahagathbandhan would form the government on 14 November and take office on 18 November, promising that all criminals would be jailed by Republic Day. He also criticised PM Modi over employment, accusing him of failing to create jobs in Bihar. “He builds factories in Gujarat and wants victory in Bihar. This won't work any more. He hasn't created a single job in 11 years. Now he's talking about providing 10 million jobs. It's just a gimmick,” he said.

His remarks came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the RJD of ushering in ‘jungle raj’ during its rule, contrasting it with the development brought by the Modi-Nitish alliance. Last month, PM Modi had also targeted Tejashwi Yadav and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, branding them “yuvrajs of corruption” and accusing them of making false promises while being out on bail in multi-crore scams.

Bihar’s 243-member Assembly will go to polls in two phases, on 6 and 11 November, with counting scheduled for 14 November.
