Teenage girl allegedly gang-raped in Uttarakhand; 5 arrested

Dehradun: In the capital of Uttarakhand, a teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped at the interstate bus terminus, and police arrested five accused persons, including two bus drivers. The girl, who is suspected to be mentally disturbed, was attacked during the intervening night of August 12 and 13, and the five one by one raped her, as per the girl's statement to police. The alleged heinous crime happened inside a Uttarakhand Roadways bus here, India Today reported.

Police said that the girl was found by a guard at a shop on platform number 1 of the bus terminus. When asked, the girl did not tell the guard her name but kept saying that she was from Patiala. She said that she has no parents and seemed mentally disturbed, police said. She was subjected to a medical examination, and the report is yet to come. The bus where the alleged crime happened and another bus was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for investigation.

The girl told the police that she sometimes goes to Moradabad, sometimes to Delhi, and sometimes to Patiala. "She did not give any information about her family," the police said.

Police said that the girl is 15 years old and travels a lot, as per her statement. She sometimes goes to Moradabad, sometimes Delhi and sometimes Patiala, but she does not reveal details about her family. She did not even talk much at first, and only after counseling did she say that she is from Moradabad. She went to Delhi and later reached Dehradun.

The arrested persons were two drivers, a cleaner, a sweeper and a cashier. They were identified as Dharmendra Kumar (32), Devendra (52), Ravi Kumar (34), Rajpal (57) and Rajesh Kumar Sonkar (38).
