TDP leads in Andhra Pradesh with 133 seats, ruling party YSRCP trails with only 16 seats

Andhra Pradesh has seen a peaceful counting day till noon and the ruling party YSRCP is leading in only 16 seats.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is leading in 133 Constituencies. Its allies JSP and BJP are leading in 20 and seven seats.

Most of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) ministers are lagging. IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath is behind by 18,000 votes against TDP candidate Palla Srinivasa Rao. Health Minister Vidadala Rajini is trailing behind 5,807 votes against TDP candidate Galla Madhavi in Guntur West. Home Minister Taneti Vanitha is behind by over 8,000 votes against TDP candidate M Venkata Raju in Gopalapuram.

Minister for Housing, Jogi Ramesh is trailing behind over 14,000 votes against TDP candidate Bode Prasad in Penamaluru. TDP candidate from Sattenapalli, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana is leading with over 13,000 votes against Ambati Rambabu, Irrigation Minister.

Considering ruling YSRCP is leading in just 16 out of 175 constituencies, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has sought an appointment to meet the Governor at 4 pm today and he is likely to tender his resignation.

Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhury of Rajahmundry Rural Assembly Constituency and Kanumuri Raghu Rama Krishna Raju of Undi and Jana Sena Party candidate Bathula Bala Ramakrishna of Rajanagaram AC won the elections.

BJP candidate Nallamili Ramakrishna Reddy won the Anaparthy Assembly seat with a 20,567 majority against sitting YSRCP MLA Sathi Suryanarayana Reddy. This is BJP's first victory in the state in 2024. Reddy had resigned from the TDP and joined the BJP.
