Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said that the state will provide free laptops to all secondary and higher secondary teachers. He also announced that teachers who implement government schemes will be rewarded with educational tours to foreign countries.
"Educational expenses for children of teachers studying in higher education will be hiked up to Rs 50,000. The new projects will be implemented at a cost of Rs 225 crore. Teachers of all government and aided schools will have to undergo a full physical examination once in three years," said the CM.
School education minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi earlier took 68 class 11 students of government schools who performed well in a state-level online quiz competition on a four-day trip to Dubai and Sharjah. He had said select teachers will also be taken abroad.
On Tuesday, he launched a special nutrition programme that will benefit over 1.11 lakh children in the age group of six months and six years. They will be given "Ready to Use Therapeutic Food" for 56 days over eight weeks. Over 11,900 infants will also be taken care of and their mothers will get a kit that has iron syrup, dates, and nutritional supplements.
