Tamil Nadu BJP's OBC leader suspended for abusing woman colleague

Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP's leader for Other Backward Classes (OBC) has been suspended for six months from party positions after he allegedly abused and intimidated a woman leader of the party's minority wing.

Suriya Siva, who joined the BJP in May this year, was heard hurling abusive remarks at a woman leader in an audio tape that went viral.

In the recorded audio of the telephone conversation Siva was heard threatening that he would send goons to hack Daisy Saran, and would cut off her genitals, according to a report in NDTV.

Despite both the leaders expressed willingness for a patch-up appearing before a disciplinary committee, the BJP state leadership chose to suspend Siva from all party positions.

Tamil Nadu BJP state chief K Annamalai reportedly said the party could not let it go of the incident, and added that Siva could still work as a party volunteer.

He also added that Siva would be installed in the party position in the event of noticing changes in his beheviour, thus inspiring confidence in the party.

K Annamalai also said that the BJP could not overlook the incident as it worships women as goddesses.

Siva is the son of senior DMK leader and the party's Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi
