Chennai: Days after raising a political storm with ‘ DMK Files’, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai released an audio clip in which a DMK minister was allegedly heard denigrating chief minister MK Stalin’s family.
Finance minister PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan accused MK Stalin’s son and son-in-law of taking ‘a bulk of the spoils’ of the corruption, according to NDTV.
The speaker in the audio clip reportedly praised the BJP’s ‘one man one post’ rule while slamming DMK’s ‘lack of system’.
Annamalai did not wait to thank the minister for ‘drawing a proper distinction between DMK and BJP’.
Another video clip that surfaced recently had PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan allegedly saying that M K Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi and Sabareesan amassed 30,000 crore.
After the bombshell clip, the minister called it as ‘fabricated’ adding that more such ‘adios and videos would come, alongside warning ‘no malicious attempt to divide us succeed’.
Almost a fortnight ago on April 14, Annamalai released ‘DMK Files’ alleging that DMK leaders amassed ₹ 1.34 lakh crore worth assets.
DMK Files included details of Chief Minister MK Stalin's son and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin alongside ministers such as Durai Murugan, EV Velu, K Ponmudy, V Senthil Balaji, and former Union Minister S Jagathrakshakan, according to NDTV.
Annamalai accused Stalin of taking ₹ 200 crore bribe for awarding a contract to a private company to supply coaches for Chennai Metro Rail during the DMK's earlier tenure in 2011.
The rail company denied having done anything wrong, saying ‘a fair process was followed’ in supplying the coach.
The ruling DMK issued legal notices to Mr Annamalai, demanding an apology and demanded Rs 500 crore in damages.
Now that minister called the audio as ‘ fabricated’, Annamalai hit back saying the minister ‘is resting on an argument that this audio is fabricated’, and he challenge the minister to produce an audio clip having similar content but in ‘my voice’.
Meanwhile, the state BJP asked Governor RN Ravi to order a forensic study of the audio clip.
