Sunita Kejriwal and Delhi Minister Atishi visited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail, where they discussed various matters with him.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is also scheduled to meet Kejriwal tomorrow.
After meeting with Kejriwal, Atishi shared insights into their conversation, stating, "Just now, I came to meet the Chief Minister. I asked him how are you, but he said, don't ask about my condition, tell me how the work is going on in Delhi." She added, "He said, are the children getting books? Are medicines available in Mohalla Clinic?"
"Atishi revealed that the Chief Minister emphasized ensuring an adequate water supply in Delhi as the summer season approaches. Additionally, he conveyed his plans to provide ₹1000 to the women of Delhi," Atishi said.
Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party had raised concerns about Sunita Kejriwal not being allowed to meet Kejriwal. However, Atishi provided an update, stating that Sunita Kejriwal would indeed meet her husband later in the day. She added, "Permission was given to two people but Sunita ji's was cancelled. New laws are made every day, permission was not given to her, but when our lawyers fought this battle, she was allowed to meet Mr. Kejriwal."
In a separate development, the AAP announced that Mrs. Kejriwal would lead AAP's Lok Sabha campaign in the national capital and other states, commencing with a roadshow to support AAP's East Delhi candidate Kuldeep Kumar. This marks Mrs. Kejriwal's debut in active politics.
Last week, AAP MP Sanjay Singh raised concerns about Atishi's meeting being cancelled abruptly. "Atishi's name was added after Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj's name on the list of visitors for Mr. Kejriwal," he stated. "Atishi's meeting was not confirmed. Delhi Education Minister Atishi applied for the meeting and at the last moment, her meeting was cancelled," Singh added.
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested in the Delhi Liquor Policy case in March by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of money laundering. His former Deputy, Manish Sisodia, is also incarcerated in the same case.
Despite his arrest, Kejriwal has not stepped down, with the AAP asserting that he will continue to govern from jail.
