Statue of Unity: Police bust ticket fraud worth 5.24 crores

Vadodara: Gujarat Police have arrested members of the agency collecting entry fees from tourists to see the Sardar Vallabhai Patel statue in Narmada, Gujarat. According to reports, those arrested have been accused of siphoning 5.24 crores in ticket collection instead of depositing it.

The alleged fraud is supposed to have taken place between November 2018 and March 2020, which was discovered by the bank manager who revealed that large amounts had not been deposited, and promptly informed the police.

Although the agency is under the scanner, no real names or links have been revealed yet although the police are confident that they will crack the case soon, said the Narmada Police DSP.
