Bagalkot: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly tied up his mother and slit her throat after she refused to give him money for liquor in Tulasigeri village of Bagalkot taluk, Karnataka.
The accused, identified as 28-year-old Venkatesh Girisagar, reportedly committed the murder on Thursday night. The victim, 58-year-old Shavakka Girisagar, was living with her son in a rented house following her husband’s death. Her daughter was married and lived elsewhere.
Police said Venkatesh, a habitual drinker, frequently fought with his mother over money. On the night of the incident, he returned home drunk and demanded money again. When Shavakka refused, he allegedly tied her hands and legs, gagged her with a cloth, and slit her throat before fleeing.
Neighbours discovered the crime and alerted the authorities. Officers from the Kaladagi police station arrived at the scene and began a manhunt. The accused was later found drinking at a bar and was arrested. Police have launched further investigation.
