Son kills father in UP, burns the body over property row

Mathura: The son of a 55-year-old man strangled him to death before burning the body in Mthura, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

One report in Indian Today sourcing from police said that the patricide took place in Narhauli village.

The gruesome murder saw the son Vineet whose age is unknown, allegedly killing his father and wrapping the corpse in a blanket before charring it.

The police started probe after the accused's mother complained.

The victim Amrut Lal was a master mason, according to a senior police officer.

His wife Asha Devi was visiting his paternal home leaving behind father and son at home.

In the absence of his mother, Vineet began forcing Amrut Lal to sell the house they were living in, which the father refused.

A furious Vineet allegedly attacked his father, strangling him to death before burning the body.

Asha Devi reportedly confirmed Vineet wanting to sell the house.

Vineet had already sold their 100 sq yard plot earlier, which had become a point of contention in the family, the report said.

Vineet used to frequently force his father to sell the house too, asking for a share of it.

The couple's younger son, Nehna, had committed suicide four years ago.

Asha Devi claimed that Vineet was responsible for both the deaths in the family and demanded death penalty for him, according to the report.

Amrut Lal had three daughters and two sons. Two of the daughters are married.

"The murder was probably committed in a drunken rage. The charred body of Amrut Lal was recovered from the house. Efforts are on to arrest Vineet," Inspector Suresh Chand told India Today.
