Senior Madhya Pradesh Police officer caught stealing on camera, now on the run

Bhopal: A senior woman officer of Bhopal Police caused embarrassment to Madhya Pradesh’s police department after she was allegedly caught stealing cash and a mobile phone, NDTV reported.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalpana Raghuvanshi, posted at the Police Headquarters, has been accused of stealing Rs 2 lakh in cash and a mobile phone at her friend’s house in Jahangirabad police station area of Bhopal.

A case has been filed against Kalpana Raghuvanshi DSP Raghuvanshi after the woman alleged that Raghuvanshi had entered her house and took away the cash and a cellphone kept in her handbag.

The woman’s statement reportedly said that the officer entered the house in the brief period in which she had gone to take a bath.

After the cash and phone were found missing, she checked CCTV footage finding Raghuvanshi entering and exiting the house.

The incident has raised serious questions about integrity and accountability within the police force.

It is reported citing sources that the officer was seen in video leaving the premises holding a bundle of currency notes.

After the woman lodged a formal complaint, the accused officer has since been on the run as search operations are on to trace her.

Additional Superintendent of Police Bittu Sharma reportedly said: ‘The complainant's mobile phone has been recovered... The mobile phone was recovered from the accused's home. She can be seen in the footage.’

It is reported that the Police Headquarters alongside issuing notice to the officer is planning to take disciplinary actions against her.
