Bhopal: Villagers in Madhya Pradesh vandalised a transformer and nearby electricity poles after a cow was electrocuted to death, allegedly due to power leakage from the transformer.
The incident reportedly occurred due to negligence by the electricity department, according to local residents. Angered by the incident, the villagers attacked the transformer and the nearby power poles with sticks and other objects. A video of the incident has been widely circulated on social media.
The vandalism disrupted power supply in the area. A large police team reached the spot after being alerted and brought the situation under control by pacifying the protesters.
The villagers ended their protest after electricity department officials assured them that the damaged transformer would be repaired immediately and that the cow’s owner would be provided adequate compensation for the loss.
