New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday offered ‘deepest condolences’ on the passing away of Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi said demise of the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a huge loss to the Kingdom and the Islamic world, The Free Press Journal reported.
‘Deepest condolences on the sad demise of the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Eminence Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al AlSheikh. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kingdom and its people in this moment of grief,’ the Prime Minister reportedly said.
The Saudi Royal Court on Tuesday announced the Grand Mufti's passing.
The esteemed religious leader was the head of the Council of Senior Scholars alongside being the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, and the Supreme Council of the Muslim World League.
The Royal Court stated: ‘The Royal Court announced today the passing of Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh.’
Pointing to Sheikh Al Al-Sheikh's contributions to Islam, the Royal Court stated that ‘the Kingdom and the Islamic world have lost a distinguished scholar.’
